We have loved getting to learn from Ms. Sam in music class! She always has fun lessons and a bright smile on her face! She's finished with her music therapy internship, so she sent us a song to say goodbye! Check it out: She's also created a goodbye lesson with content on emotions and different ways to say "goodbye". It can be found here: Sam's Goodbye Lesson
We're so thankful for you, Sam! In the words of the end of class song, "Thank you music, thank you music, thank you music, we're glad you're in our life!"

To go along with the name spelling challenge posted early this semester, Professor Puppy and I have put together a movement version of the name spelling challenge. Watch below to see my version! Professor puppy didn't like all the N's and did not want me using his ball. Oh well, I tried :) For way better fitness challenges by the real professionals, check out these websites created by our Hartvigsen PE staff!
Adapted PE site for students: https://sites.google.com/granitesd.org/hartvigsen-pe/home Parent and Staff mindfulness and fitness resources: https://sites.google.com/view/crossfit-hartvigsen/home?authuser=0 Parent and Staff workouts of the week: https://sites.google.com/view/crossfit-hartvigsen/crossfit-hartvigsen/wow?authuser=0 I've put together a video of quesadilla recipes for our students. I realize these aren't the most authentic recipes in honor of Cinco De Mayo, but I was hoping for something that could easily be done without an extra trip to the store as well as something the students have experience with. Many of our students have made quesadillas in our school kitchen. I encourage you to reach out to friends and family for more ideas of how to celebrate Cinco de Mayo! :) Our very own classroom staff, Amy, has made a counting in Spanish video! Check it out! ¡Nuestro propio personal de aula, Amy, ha hecho un video contando en español! ¡Echale un vistazo! Check out the below links for some additional Cinco De Mayo activities for your child!
¡Vea los enlaces a continuación para ver algunas actividades adicionales del Cinco de Mayo para su hijo! We are so excited to have made a video of a goofy, familiar story for your kids. We miss them so much! Some of you may know that I try to be very mindful of reducing waste and doing everything I can to make our world a healthy and safe place to live. With that in mind, I started a worm farm! It'll reduce waste and create compost for our garden. The worms will eat many things that I'd otherwise throw away, like the ends of celery, apple cores, lettuce, and even bread. Check out the video for some up close footage of the creepy crawlers! And here's some fun worm-themed extension activities for your kids!
Check out this video of our whole staff saying hi to the students! Happy Earth Day! Check out the videos and files below for some fun Earth day activities, including a reading of the book The Lorax, a quick video of science, sensory, and cooking activities, and some files for added practice in math, writing, and more reading. Lets celebrate Autism Awareness month with a lesson on some of the famous people who have shown the world how great individuals with Autism are. Then, check out the autism true/false question cards to use with your child. Check out the video below to see a fun challenge you can do using household items! Extra special appearances by my dog, Professor Puppy! Jeanne, Diane, Amy, and Ridwan are all working from home too! They've sent some fun pictures of glimpses into their lives. They all miss the students very much and can't wait to see their smiling faces again!
Take your child on a walk! Practice finding things around them or in pictures. Try asking them, "where's the plane?", "how many flowers are there?", "which one is a playground?". Anything you can do to engage your child in physical activity and communication is awesome!
